Sanh oranges thrive in Ha Giang's unique climate, characterized by an average annual rainfall ranging from 2,600 to 4,000 millimeters. With average yearly temperatures fluctuating between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius, the region provides the perfect environment for these citrus gems to flourish.


Historical Insights.

The journey of Sanh oranges in Ha Giang has seen fluctuations in cultivation area. In 2011, the cultivation area dwindled to 1,735.7 hectares. However, by 2013, the province experienced a resurgence in Cam Sanh cultivation, with a cultivation area of 2,663.6 hectares. This effort yielded a remarkable harvest of 9,725 tons, with an average yield of 6.4 tons per hectare.

The newly introduced traceability system leverages the latest digital advancements. It involves the creation of QR codes and a dedicated fan page to facilitate the sourcing and consumption of Sanh oranges. A Milestone in Intellectual Property: In 2004, a significant milestone was achieved as the brand "Cam Sanh Hà Giang" was officially established and protected by the Intellectual Property Office, under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam. This pivotal moment laid the foundation for the recognition and safeguarding of the distinctive identity of these prized oranges.



Pioneering Brand Protection: The commitment to securing the unique identity of Sanh oranges further solidified in 2005, as Ha Giang took proactive steps to register and safeguard the "Cam Sanh Ha Giang" trademark. This move underscored the province's dedication to preserving the authenticity and integrity of its produce.


Consumer Trust and Culinary Accolades: The year 2014 witnessed a significant accolade, as "Cam Sanh Ha Giang" found itself among the top 10 products trusted and favored by consumers. The Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology conferred upon "Cam Sanh Ha Giang" the esteemed title of "Món ngon tinh hoa ẩm thực Việt" (Exquisite Delicacy of Vietnamese Cuisine). This recognition not only celebrated the quality of the oranges but also elevated them to a place of honor within the realm of Vietnamese culinary excellence.


Geographic Indication Protection: The journey towards brand recognition culminated in 2016 with the official registration of Ha Giang's Sanh orange variety as a Geographical Indication (GI). This pivotal achievement acknowledged the unique qualities imparted by Ha Giang's geographical and climatic conditions, adding another layer of distinction to the brand.
